Chris Prescott is a San Diego-based musician who has been teaching since 1990. Recently, Chris has published his first book on drumming called Creative Construction, which contains 16 play along audio tracks for drummers. The author has performed and recorded on more than 50 releases on both independent and major labels, as well as recorded music for television and films. Some of the bands he has toured and recorded with include Jimmy Eat World, Pinback, Rocket from the Crypt, Systems Officer, No Knife, Tanner, Fishwife and the Montalban Quintet among others. During the past 20 years Chris has performed in over 160 cities in places as far-reaching as Russia, Japan, Europe, Australia, Canada, Mexico and the United States. Chris holds a degree in Music/Jazz Studies from University of California, San Diego, and graduated Summa Cum Laude in addition to receiving several other college honors. On Pinback’s 2013 release of “Information Retrieved“, DRUM! Magazine published an extensive feature on Chris Prescott’s drumming style and creative approach. Chris is also a Modern Drummer Magazine contributor, publishing 6 articles and accompanying videos with them. Another feature was published in the prestigious Percussive Notes journal by the Percussive Arts Society, which focused on different aspects of teaching and the benefits therein.
